We are a week into 2022 and the whole saying, “new year-new you” has never sat with me very well. I mean, it doesn’t really work like that. With a click of the second hand, the clock strikes midnight, we hit 2022, you aren’t instantly this new person. More importantly, why would you EVER want to be a new person?
I mean, I have made some mistakes in my life, and if I could turn back the hands of time….well, no, I wouldn’t do things differently. I am by no means perfect, but I will take myself just how I am; imperfect, spontaneous, impatient, driven, curious, and a constant analyzer. I consider myself a building block. One life lesson on top of another to create exactly who I am today.
Although, there is one thing I wish I would have done sooner is commit to goals. I mean, really commit to goals. Write them down, say them out loud, believe they are achievable, know that I am worthy and shoot for the stars. I will speak for myself here, I really do feel I was too afraid to aim big because, well, what happens if I say I am going to do something, and I don’t? I am learning now that it is okay to say all the things I want to do. It is okay to dream, have big goals and shoot for the stars. I also don’t want to live life without doing all of that. I am now shouting my goals from the rooftops.
There is so much power in giving our goals and dreams space. This could be writing them down and putting them in a place that you will be reminded of them daily. It could be a vision board that you create on Canva and save as your laptop wallpaper. It could be journaling daily and writing your goals down, every single morning. Think about what will work best for you and try it. Worst case, it doesn’t work. Best case, it does. And that would be amazing.
Here is a helpful website to help you map out your goals and dreams so you can live the life you were meant to live.
Here’s to 2022 and moving forward!
